MITTIE AND CARS - A number of years ago we had a cat.  He wasn't any more spectacular than other cats with one exception.  Mittie loved to go for rides in the car.  You see, he had been trained at a very early age to get into his cage and go for rides, without going to the veterinarian.  Other cats are traumatized by the awareness that when their owners break out the cage and car, that means going to the vet for uncomfortable poking and probing, and perhaps even shots (ouch!), but Mittie had no fear of the car, because he didn't associate car rides with pain.
